Top Research Priority

Ensuring optimal graft survival stands as our primary focus, as highlighted by our patient-centred research, the SONG-Transplant Initiative. Graft loss, especially the need to return to dialysis, poses a three-fold increased risk of mortality and leads to a significant decline in quality of life. Additionally, it can result in immunological sensitisation, potentially preventing re-transplantation.

Recognising the critical importance of maintaining ‘One Transplant For Life,’ this objective has been prioritized by esteemed organizations such as the Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program (CDTRP) and the Commonwealth’s National Strategy for Organ Donation, Retrieval & Transplantation.
