Professor Germaine Wong is an academic transplant nephrologist, Director of Western Renal Service at Westmead Hospital and Professor of Clinical Epidemiology, NHMRC Leadership Fellow at the School of Public Health, University of Sydney, and co-lead of the Centre for Kidney Research at Westmead. She was awarded her PhD in 2009 and has made outstanding contributions to the field of clinical research in nephrology and transplantation. In 2018, she was awarded the NHMRC Research Award Excellence for the Top Ranked Recipient in Population Health. In the same year, she was awarded the Ian McKenzie Prize for her outstanding contribution to Transplantation.
In 2015, she received two prestigious awards by TSANZ and the ANZSN on her contribution to clinical research, teaching, and supervision. She has been recognised internationally as the Key Opinion Leader by the Transplantation Society (TTS). She has an internationally recognised track record and has made a significant contribution in transplant epidemiology, cancer and transplantation, social ethics in organ allocation, decision analytical modelling, health economics, and quality of life studies in transplant recipients.
